Hello and welcome. My name is William Elder Groebe. I am a freelance director with an extensive background in visual effects and animation. I love filmmaking. Collaborating with a team to tell imaginative stories is the best, and I don’t take it for granted. When I’m not directing I’m usually storyboarding on some big dumb movie or supervising the animation on an even bigger dumber movie.
My directing credits include Cammy & Mike, an animated short film from Rob McElhenney’s company Adim, which premiered at the Austin Film Festival in 2024. I directed 4 episodes of Bleacher Report’s The Portal which won a Sports Emmy in 2022, as well as a variety of commercials. I’ve also written and directed the short films Three Queens, and Suspended.
I’ve contributed art direction and storyboards to dozens of films and TV shows including Deadpool & Wolverine, Stranger Things, Bullet Train, and Free Guy, as well as concept art and animation for video games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. As an Animation Director I have lead teams on such films as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, It Chapter 2, Ted, Cloverfield, and the Twilight films.
